Abstract The 5, 10-methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T mutation causes decreased activity of this enzyme and is associated with mild-tomoderate hyperhomocysteinemia which is implicated in many complex disorders like cardiovascular diseases, preeclamplsia, etc. The distribution of MTHFR 677T is worldwide, but its frequency in different populations varies extensively. In the present study, an attempt is made to estimate the genotypic and allelic frequency of MTHFR gene C677T polymorphism among two tribal populations of Madhya Pradesh.
