Online published on 12 January, 2017. Abstract Green tea is the most commonly used beverage worldwide. In its essence, tea is an infusion of Camellia leaves. Epidemiological studies have shown that green tea consumption is associated with several health benefits, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, associated with reduced incidence of cardiovascular mortality, stroke and myocardial infarctions. Green tea reduces cholesterol HDL and LDL. Long-term consumption of tea catechins can reduce the risk of coronary disease and could be beneficial against high-fat diet-induced obesity and type II diabetes. Green tea became a very popular drink in the western countries and has become a functional beverage in most of the people's lives. Top | |
