Online published on 15 October, 2016. Abstract Periodontitis is one of the most common oral disease that results from host microbial interaction. Conventional therapies are targeting the microbial side of etiology. Current concepts of host modulation therapy targets the host regulatory mechanism in periodontitis. With current knowledge on the periodontal pathogens, the development of periodontal vaccine will be a breakthrough in advancement of periodontal therapy. This review summarises the significance of development of periodontal vaccines, the target for development of periodontal vaccines, limitations and future prospects. Top |
