Online published on 21 June, 2016. Abstract The aim of this review is to evaluate the synergistic effect of multiple xerostomia drugs. From the review It is been found that there are number of xerogenic drugs, especially antimuscarinic agents, some sympathomimetic agents, and agents affecting serotonin and noradrenaline uptake, as well as a miscellany of other drugs such as appetite suppressants, protease inhibitors and cytokines. Even non pharmacological affects causes xerostomia. It is even found that there is very highly significant reduction in the salivary flow rates of patients under multiple xerostomia-inducing drugs. Dry mouth is especially through the drugs which affecting anticholinergic activity against the M3 muscarinic receptor. Dry mouth can be treated with the administration of pilocarpine, it can even be treated by giving salivary stimulant. Even physical treatment is available for dry mouth as acupuncture.
