Online published on 30 July, 2015. Abstract The Antiobesity activity of the Ethanolic extract of the Ficus religiosa (EEFR) was studied using high fat diet induced rat model. The various parameters like effect of the extract on body weight, organ weight (Liver, kidney and heart),white adipose tissue weight (epididymal and peritoneal), Aspartate transaminase (AST), Alanine transaminase (ALT), Total cholesterol (TC), Triglycerides (TG), High Density Lipoprotein (HDL), Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Very Low Density Lipo Protein (VLDL), glucose, Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and Reduced glutathione (GSH).The Thoracic and abdominal circumferences of the rats were also studied.
