Abstract

Noble drug delivery or traditional drug delivery has failed to improve the bioavailability of drugs and also to reduce the toxicity of drugs. In recent years, targeted drug delivery system has gained its importance in delivering drug with low toxic levels and high bioavailability. Nanotechnology has created an revolution in the field of drug delivery. Especially solid lipid nano particles (SLNs) have been proven to be one of the best drug carries. SLNs have numerous applications in the prophylaxis of cancer, tuberculosis and they are used as adjutants in many vaccines. Preparation methods of SLNs include homogenization using pressure, ultra-sonication, solvent evaporation and its preparation depends upon the nature of drug. Bio distribution of drug is an challenge and it's well managed by selecting the perfect route of drug administration. Characterization of drug is also important for SLNs to improve the bioavailability of drug and it includes different methods like Electronic microscopy, particle size determination along with its zeta potential.
