Several medications have been used for longer period of time as immune suppressant to prevent the graft rejection. Though these agents suppress the immune system it also brings about several toxic side effects as well as risks of rejection after transplantation. Recent updates in practice suggest the use of drugs such as Calcineurin Inhibitor, Anti-Proliferative drug and Steroids to a great extent. These three-drug-combination mainly inhibits the activation of B and T lymphocytes and guanosine nucleotide synthesis and thereby effectively suppresses the immune system and prevents the graft rejection. Hence triple suppression therapy is considered as the most effective one for preventing the graft rejection to the maximum and should be recommended worldwide.
