Spectrophotometric method Development and validation of Acotiamide in its bulk and Tablet Dosages Form.

Abstract

Acotiamide is a new prokinetic drug that is used to treat functional dyspepsia (FD). A sensitive and specific UV Visible method has been developed and validated for the analysis of Acotiamide. The UV-Visibile Spectrophotometric estimation includes Calibration curve, Accuracy, Precision etc. This is done by using the absorbance value at a selected wavelength using 1cm thick quartz cell and 0.1(N) NaOH as a solvent. Newly developed method obeyes Beer's-Lambert's law in the concentration range of 5–25 μg/ml, whereas correlation coefficient value is less than 1. The detection wavelength is 285 nm. The percent amount of drug estimated by this developed method was nearly 100%, which is in a good agreement with label claim of marketed tablet formulation. The recovery study was performed at three different levels and results were found to be within limit. The validation parameters like Accuracy, Precision, Linearity and Range, LOD and LOQ were studied for the developed method and was found to be within limits.
