Abstract Natural products isolated from the plant source are considered to be a potent candidate for safe and efficient therapeutic agents since the time immemorial. Numerous bio-potent natural products like Acetylsalicyclic acid, Salicin, Morphine, Digitoxin, Quinine, and Pilocarpine proved to be consecrated in health care sector. Concern to the population exploration, there is inadequate supply of drugs. Last few decades, it is observed that a surge in the herbal drug based dietary supplement in the market. Due to severe unavoidable side effects associated with the allopathic drugs, which led to increase emphasis on isolation of natural products from plant sources. Tinospora cardifolia, belongs to family Menispermaceae has well known for immune booster potency. The preliminary phytochemical screening gives the significance result for presence of alkaloids, terpenoids, glycosides, flavonoids as major phyto-constitution of this plant. Although a lot of phytoconstituents have been isolated from this plant but, still many more phytoconstituents need to be isolated from the polar fractions like n-butanol and water. This research article enlightens the activity targeted isolation of phytoconstituents from the polar fraction of methanolic extract. Different fractions were screened for the antibacterial activity. Considering the zone of inhibition, n-butanolic fraction showed the satisfactory result as compared to other fractions against some selected dental pathogens. So, the n-butanol fraction was considered for phytochemical exploration. The n-butanol fraction festivities a polar compound cordioside and it was characterized with various sophisticated instrumental techniques such as UV-Vis, FTIR, NMR, and Mass Spectroscopy.
