Online published on 22 April, 2020. Abstract Aim and Objectives It is to reveal anticancer activity of phytomolecules from the plant using cell line evaluation method and to make the plant as source for treating many chronic diseases like cancer. Method Hydroalcohlic extract and isolated compounds (E02, E05, W02 and W04) from the selected plant were subjected for anticancer screening using MTT assay method. The cell line used was MCF-7 for human breast cancer in women. The measurement was carried at a wavelength of 590 nm and the percentage growth inhibition was calculated. The concentrations of test drug needed to inhibit cell growth by 50% (IC50) values were generated from the dose-response curves for each cell line. Results and Discussion The IC50 values of extract and isolated compounds were detected as 220.9, 276.3, 248.6, 173.1 and 182.8μg/mL respectively. The results showed that isolated compound, W02 has more activity when comparing with other isolates and even extract. All the samples were observed with significant activity. Conclusion The phytochemicals of the plant with potent anticancer properties could be used to develop herbal formulations for the treatment of breast cancer in women. Hence, the compounds will play major role in society as natural remedy for a life threatening disease. Top Keywords MCF-7, Breast cancer, MTT, isolates, Ipomoea aquatic, IC50. Top |
