Online published on 15 February, 2021. Abstract Nature has diversified flora spread across the globe. It has been estimated that Indian flora accounts for about 11.4% of the total species diversity. Plants which have no side-effects and vast diversity are now being used as a ready to use alternative to commercial drugs which are more toxic, expensive and possess adverse side effects. The aim of work focus on synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from Ocimum basilicum aqueous leaf extract. Silver nitrate and leaf aqueous extracts were utilized as a precursor and capping reducing agent separately. Silver nanoparticles were portrayed and recognized by UV- Visible Spectrophotometer (UV), Particle size analyzer (DLS), Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR.). Antimicrobial activity was done against two-gram positive bacteria Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae and two-gram negative bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, and two fungal species Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans by agar well diffusion method. AgNPs Ocimum basilicum aqueous leaf extract possess in-vitro antioxidant activity by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method and their anticancer potential was evaluated against MCF-7 cell lines (Breast Cancer cell lines)using MTT assay and determination of nuclear morphologyby AO/PI staining. Based on the results we suggested that (AgNPs) from Ocimum basilicum aqueous leaf extract might be an excellent natural drug for the treatment and prevention of cancer progression.
