Formulation, development and evaluation of bioadhesive floating Microsponges of Domperidone

the objective of present study was to develop bio adhesive floating micro sponges of domperidone. (DOM) so as to accomplish an all-inclusive maintenance in the upper GIT, which may bring about upgraded assimilation and accordingly improved bioavailability. Floating drug delivery system have a mass thickness not exactly gastric liquids and so remains buoyant in stomach without influencing gastric purging rate for a drawn out timeframe. DOM and multiparticulate medicate conveyance framework make DOM a very good candidate for formulation of floating drug delivery system. Floating microsponges of DOM were set up by quassi emulsion technique. Domperdome floating microsponges are set up to improve site specific absorption of drug for emetic treatment. Modified quasi emulsion solvent diffusion technique was used to utilized microsponges. Various concentrations of Acconon MC 8–2 EP/NF and Polyvinyl alcohol were used and the prepared microsponges were evaluated for % entrapment efficiency, % buoyancy and % cumulative drug release. It was found that the % entrapment efficiency was 82.24%, % buoyancy was 82.3% and % cumulative drug release was 88.7% for F6 formulation. This investigation introduces another methodology dependent on floating ability of microsponges for treatment of emetic. Rapid gastrointestinal transit can prevent complete drug release in the absorption zone and reduce the efficacy of administered dose since the majority of drugs are absorbed in the stomach or the upper part of small intestine.
