Therefore scientific documentation of the siddha formulations has become the need of the hour. The aim of the study was to evaluate in vitro antioxidant potential of methanolic extract of Maruthampattai kudineer, a polyherbal siddha formulation indicated in siddha text for the management of diabetes. One of the major causative factor implicated is the damage induced by free radicals in the development of diabetes and its complications and hence an antidiabetic compound with antioxidant properties would be more favourable. Therefore, the anti-oxidant properties of this formula were studied by using 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) assay, reducing power activity and [2, 2’-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid)] ABTS assay. Top Keywords Siddha, Maruthampattai kudineer, anti-oxidant properties. Top |
