Abstract In this study, benzene levels was determined in several beverage containing benzoate salts and ascorbic acid and which were exposed to high temperature and UV light. The samples were analyzed using a headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technique HS-GC-MS. The benzene was detected in a number of samples, but the percentage did not exceed the authorized global values.
