Online published on 31 October, 2018. Abstract The sewage waste water and soil in and around hospital areas contains numerous pathogens with multi drug resistance. The soil around hospital areas gets contaminated with certain pathogens due to disposal of hospital wastes. This study implicates isolation of drug resistance bacteria from hospital sewage soil sample. Soil samples were collected from hospital sewage areas of Vellore and investigated for drug resistance bacterial content in them. Nutrient agar medium was used for isolation of the bacterial isolates from the soil. Gram staining and morphological analysis of isolates were done as a preliminary identification process of the bacteria. Biochemical tests were conducted for all the bacterial isolates and the results obtained from the series of biochemical tests were used for confirmation of the isolated strains. Post identification, antibiotic susceptibility test was conducted against the 5 bacterial isolates.
