Online published on 24 July, 2018. Abstract Objective (s:)The aims of this study were to assess the health-promotive behaviors among a first year students of Nursing. It also to find out the association between the overall assessment of health-promotive behaviors and students socio-demographic characteristic of gender, residence, fathers level of education, mothers level of education, father occupation, and mother's occupation. Materials and methods Descriptive design survey study was conducted from January to March 2016. Study sample: A simple randomized sample of (100) student at a first year in College of Nursing. The Study Instrument: Relevant scale was used for measurement the phenomenon of" health-promotive behaviors among first year students of nursing ".the scale was used previously in other study conducted by Jaber and al-khalil, 2003. Results The findings of present study presented that the students were with satisfied level regarding domains of nutrition, exercises, stressors, and substance abuse domains were fair behavior (96%, 90%, 97%, 97%) respectively. There is a non-significant relationship between the overall domain of health of behavior and different socio-demographic characteristics except with the fathers level of education. Conclusion The study concludes that those students have an awareness of healthy behaviors and thus enhance their ability to protect their health. Recommendation The first year is considered a foundation from which the rest of students‟ college experiences are built. Therefore, greater attention should been paid by educators to the unique needs of first year college students specially issues of their belies and attitudes. Conduct an educational and experiential interventions that enable nursing students to become health promoting nurses in future. Top Keywords Students, Health promotive, Behaviours. Top |
