Abstract

Despite the peacetime, various injuries (car accidents, falling and injuries at the workplace) with neuropathic pain are frequent. Neuropathic pain is a condition, which is usually drug-resistant and is associated with poor patient's satisfaction with his or her treatment. Quality of life (QOL) indicator is an important instrument for an integrated assessment of general medical condition, as patients are given the opportunity to independently assess their own health. The purpose of this study is to study the quality of life of patients with neurological conditionscoming with neuropathic pain. The study has involved 1705 respondents. Questionnaire surveywith "DN4", "Pain DETECT" and "SF-36 Health Status Survey" was the main method. For each respondent, we have revaluated the responses to the QOL scores (transformation). Role-physical functioning parameters, determined by physical and emotional state, psychological health and vital activity, of patients with high probability of having a neuropathic pain are significantly lower in comparison with patients with low probability of having a a neuropathic pain. Differences in QOL indicators for men and women are statistically significant in age groups "under 30 years", "41–50 years" and "71–80 years". At the same time, QOL indicators are mainly lower for female population. QOL level is not much different between men and women across all scales. Minor differences are observed in social functioning. According to the results of this study, there is going to be created an electronic database of patients with neuropathic pain and doctors supervising them in the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to monitor patients ’treatment and provide methodological and scientific assistance for practicing doctors.
