Abstract Carbapenems have been among the most powerful antibiotics for treating serious infections caused by Gramnegative pathogens, which includes Enterobactericeae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii. We have screened for the antibiotic sensitivity pattern followed by the detection of carbapenemase in our isolates. We found a higher percentage of isolates were shown to be resistant to multiple antibiotics and confirmed to be an multiple drug resistant strains, 15% of isolates were carbapenemase producers. Its ideal to include this test in routine sensitivity pattern in order to rule out the actul mechanism and prompt theapy. Top Keywords E.coli, Carbapenemase, Modified Hodge test. Top |
