Online published on 20 December, 2018. Abstract The Anti-diarrhoeal effect of the aqueous extract of the aerial parts of in rosents was examined. At the doses of 125, 250, 500 mg/kg of the extract protected rats, in a dose increasing fashion against diarrhea promoted by castor oil dropping by38.09, 59.93 and 65.11% respectively. Further, it has significantly inhibited by 41.46% the gastrointestinal transit of charcoal in rats at 500 mg/kg dose of the extract. These data suggest that Peucedanum pastinacifolium shows antidiarrhoeal activity by inhibiting intestinal motility with no signs of acute toxicity which is correlated to its uses in folkloric medicine Top Keywords Peucedanum pastinacifolium, antidiarrhoeal activity, intestinal transit, LD50.
