Abstract The absorption of some drugs through skin is minimized due to the barrier of stratum corneum layer Therefore, searching for the new penetration enhancer from some chemical and natural compounds was widely investigated Natural oil from Dipterocarpus alatus is very high production and supply in many parts of Thailand and is one of the potential natural oil which might be use for drug formulation Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the penetration enhancement of this natural oil to improve the permeation ability of some drugs Ketoconazole, caffeine and ibuprofen were the model of drug use in this study Side by side diffusion testing was used for the study of the permeation enhancement of D alatus oil and the amount of drug permeate was determined by UV-Visible spectrophotometer The results were shown that D alatus oil might be used as a permeation enhancer of some model drugs and could be applied to use as the excipient in drug formulation Top Keywords Dipterocarpus alatus, permeation enhancement, caffeine, ketoconazole, ibuprofen.
