Abstract In this methodology, an algorithm for invisible watermarking based on discrete wavelet transforms (DWT), discrete cosine transform (DCT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) has been proposed for medical applications. For identity authentication purpose, this approach uses medical Lump image watermark. The security of the image watermark is also enhanced by using Arnold transform before embedding into the cover image. In the embedding process, the cover medical image is decomposed into third-level DWT. Low-high frequency band (LH1) of the first level DWT is transformed by DCT and then SVD is applied to DCT coefficients. The Lump image watermark is also transformed by DCT and SVD. The singular values of the watermark image information are embedded in the singular value of the cover medical image. Further, Lump watermark is scrambled by using Arnold transform before embedding into the cover which provides the extra level of security.
