Abstract Due to the adverse effects on the health of the human beings and ecological systems, Considerable attention has been given to the environmental pollution from toxic organic compounds. In the present work, adsorption of Methylene blue dye waste water was taken as adsorbate and Tamarindus indica was taken as adsorbent. Effect of initial concentration, adsorbent dosage and contact time on dye uptake was studied. kinetic studies were also performed and it was found that pseudo first order kinetic model was best suited with the experimental data obtained.
