Moreover, Enzymes are highly ‘Chemo, regio, and enantio selective’ in nature. From decades, bio-reduction performed using whole cells and free enzymes for the production of chiral alcohols. Some recent developments in the area of fermentative biotransformation processes for the reduction of Keto- sulfone to hydroxy sulfone and Lipitor intermediate are reviewed and importance of microbial mediated asymmetric synthesis of chiral alcohols are highlighted for the future perspective. Top Keywords Asymmetric keto-reduction, Fermentation, chiralalcohols, Hydroxy sulfone, Lipitor, Microorganisms, Keto-reductases. Top |
