The host immune response and inflammatory factors have important role in periodontal tissue. Recently it has been evident that for many common chronic disease modifying factors amplify disease mechanisms. The aim of this review is to investigate the association of periodontitis with metabolic control and gingival tissue level of interleukin-1 in diabetic patient with chronic periodontitis.
