Abstract

Nanoparticles are in size range of 10-100nm. Due to their novelty, nanoparticles have lot of applications in emerging trends. In this study, a simple and rapid method was followed to synthesis silver nanoparticle. Microwave irradiation and aqueous ginger extract were used to synthesis silver nanoparticle. In microwave method, the reduction occurred after 2min exposure to microwave irradiation. But in conventional method, reduction has occurred after 2 days exposure to the reducing agent. The SEM-EDAX analysis revealed the particles size were in the range of 50-120nm. UV-Vis spectrum analysis showed the sharp peak around 433nm. Antibacterial activity of the silver nanoparticle was studied and it was found to be active against the tested microorganisms. Preliminary analysis showed that the silver nanoparticle has cytotoxicity effect against Hep2 cancer cell line and normal Vero cell line.
