In vitro drug release study was carried out in simulated gastric fluid (0.1 N Hcl) for the first 2h and in phosphate buffer (pH 6.8) for the next 10 h following USP apparatus II paddle method. In order to describe the cytisine release kinetics from individual tablet formulations, the corresponding dissolution data were fitted in various kinetic dissolution models are zero order, first order. The results indicated that the drug release characteristics from follow First order kinetics and the mechanism of drug release was both Swelling and diffusion.
