Abstract Some new azo compounds were prepared by the action of benzoyl chloride with 4-amino benzamide obtaining N-benzoyl-4-amino benzamide, after diazotized to give N-benzoyl-4-((substituted phenyl) diazenyl) benzamide (1–6). The obtained compounds were characterized by 1H-NMR, F.T-IR and 13C-NMR. The obtained compounds (1–6) were tested for their antimicrobial activity against (S. aureus, S. epidermidis, E. coli and P. aeruginosa) by disc diffusion method. The (MIC) minimum inhibitory concentrations of obtained compounds were also calculated by agar streak dilution method. The obtained compound shows moderate antimicrobial activity.
