Abstract In this research study, the emphasis laid on understanding the trends of Gold Open Access Publishing from India for a period of 15 years, i.e., 2003–2017. This paper highlights the open access (OA) journals published from India and which are indexed in Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and its growth trends. Notably, DOAJ has listed about 10, 767 journals across 122 countries till 5th January 2018. Out of 10, 767 journals, 197 (1.82%) journals are listed from India. The paper attempts to study the journals based on the data retrieved from DOAJ on the criteria of subject coverage, publisher, article processing charges, language, peerreview process, date of addition into the directory, license etc. This study aims to analyze the contribution of India to OA publishing in general and discipline-wise in particular.
