Abstract The present investigation was carried out by storing the tubers of different potato varieties, viz., Kufri Chandramukhi and TPS 7/67 in three types of structures, viz., traditional pit, modified pit and an underground store during November 2007 to March 2008 and November 2008 to March 2009 at Defence Institute of High Altitude Research, Leh-Ladakh (J&K). Underground store observed to be best structure for lower rate of sprouting, weight loss and rotten tubers than traditional pit and modified pit. Among the cultivars, TPS 7/67 has lower percentage of sprouting, weight loss and rotten tubers than Kufri Chandramukhi. Top Keywords Potato, Ladakh, high altitude, storage, self life. Top |
