Guidelines for the Contributors

Contributions in the form of full papers and short communications based on original research work on all aspects of Plant Pathology from members of INSOPP are published in Plant Disease Research. However, papers on reaction of germplasm under natural conditions in the field, not subjected to artificial inoculation for confirming resistance, screening of fungicides in vitro and routine nutritional studies on pathogens are discouraged. Manuscript in duplicate, should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief, Plant Disease Research, Department of Plant Pathology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana-141004. It should invariably be accompanied by an “Article certificate” as follows :

Certified that the manuscript entitled “...............................” has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The consent of all the authors has been obtained. All the authors are active members of the Indian Society of Plant Pathologists.

Manuscript Format :

Manuscript (MS) should be submitted in duplicate and should also carry the telephone number, full postal and e-mail address of the corresponding authors. M S should be printed in double space on bond paper (A-4 size) with font size 12.

Submission of soft copy is compulsory

Coloured photographs can be printed on the receipt of payment of Rs 3000/- (through DD)

The contents of the paper should be arranged as follows :

Full papers : Title, Authors with address (es), Abstract, Keywords, Introduction (brief), Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgements (if any) and References.

Title : It should be brief, concise and self-explanatory.

Abstract : It should not exceed 150 words and should convey what was done & what was learnt.

Materials and Methods : These should be brief but self explanatory. In case a method is well known, citing a relevant reference is enough.

Results and Discussion : These should be combined and repetition of data in two or three forms should be avoided. The quantitative data should be in standard metric units. The following abbreviations should be used : yr, wk., hr., min., sec., temp. gm, ml, kg/ha, mm, cm, ?m, fig(s), cv(s), % etc. Tables : Each table should be typed on a separate sheet and should be self-explanatory. Data may be given upto 1-2 decimal place with no vertical and horizontal grids. Illustrations/ Figures : Line drawings should be made on good quality sheets by an artist or laser drawn. Photographs should be submitted in duplicate with legends on a separate sheet.

References : These should be arranged in alphabetical order and name of the journals should be abbreviated according to ‘World list of Scientific Periodicals’ These may be listed at the end of paper as below :-

In short communications titles of the references should be omitted.

General : The revised MS should be returned within a month. Editorial Board reserves the right to remove the material considered irrelevant. It assumes no responsibility for the views and statements expressed by the authors in the articles.
