Abstract In the present paper, stable isotope (δD) of atmospheric water vapour collected during April, 2010 to December, 2010, is used to identify spatial correlation in moisture variability for southwest monsoon studies between two stations: one in Indo-Gangetic plains-Roorkee and other in sub-Himalayan Region-Jammu. The observation of Seasonal Effect in isotopes of atmospheric water vapour is the first of its kind of observation in the Roorkee and Jammu. The isotopic composition of water vapours have shown a good correlation in time domain in inferring monsoon signal which opens up the possibility to use isotopes in air moisture for monsoon studies.
