Abstract Annals of Library and Information Studies is the oldest English language Indian library and information science journal that is being published since 1954. Journals, by virtue of being primary sources of information, are important information sources. Founded by Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Annals of Library and Information Studies is currently in its 66th year of publication. This paper traces the evolution of library and information science in India as reflected from the pages of Annals.
