Response of Spacings and Nitrogen Levels on Growth, Flowering and Yield Characters of French Marigold (Tagetes Patula Linn.) Karuppaiah P., Krishna G. Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalainagar-608002, Tamil Nadu Abstract An investigation was carried out to find out the effect of different spacings (20 * 30, 30 * 30 and 30 * 40 cm) and nitrogen levels (0, 350, 400 and 450 kg/ha) on growth, flowering and yield characters of French marigold (Tagetes patula Linn.). Among the different treatments, the spacing of 30 * 30 cm and application of 400 kg N/ha recorded the maximum value of growth characters viz., plant height, number of primary and secondary branches, number of leaves, leaf area and dry matter production and flower characters viz., number of flowers, single flower weight, flower diameter, flower stalk length and carotenoid content and the treatment was considered as superior treatment.
