Abstract The discipline of library and information science, and library automation, is highly assisted by the growth and development of information and communication technology (ICT). The state and issues with library automation in degree colleges connected to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University in Gorakhpur are shown in the current article. The study presents that 8.55% of Libraries are automated and the main problems for not being automated are inadequate staff, lack of infrastructure, insufficient funds, and lack of training for library staff. This study also gives a status view of the software packages used by libraries and modules used in library automation software. It is evident from the study out of 30 libraries 19(63.33%) libraries are using SOUL and EasyLib software, The study mainly focuses on the availability, applicability, and problems faced during the process of implementation and utilization of Library automation software.
