Online published on 6 April, 2015. Abstract A study on the efficacy of manual therapy as an intervention to supervised exercise therapy in patients with anterior knee pain. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Participants Patients with anterior knee pain who were referred to physiotherapy setup from orthopaedicdepartment. Intervention The experimental group consists of six treatment sessions for manual therapy and daily for supervised exercises over a period of 2 weeks with each session of supervised exercises program and manual therapy program lasting for 15–20 minutes. Outcome measures Pain was measured using the visual analogue scale. Activity was measured by having theparticipants step up and down on a 10 inches stool for 60s. Measurements were taken before and after intervention. Results The experimental group decreased their pain and activity on step by compared with the control group. Conclusion Manual therapy is effective in decreasing knee pain and activity on step in patients with anterior knee pain.
