Abstract

To some, holistic dentistry will sound new age and strange; why change dental techniques now? However, holistic dentistry is aimed at focusing on the patient's well being and care. Holistic dental treatments do not differ hugely from traditional treatments but will focus on using dental materials that will not introduce toxins into the body. Holistic dentists will also be able to educate children/parents on ways to maintain a diet that win reduce toxicity in the body. While traditional dentistry focuses only on the areas above the neck, holistic pediatric dentistry looks at the Child as a whole system and how the mouth relates to the rest of the body. The study of children's oral health from a global perspective remains largely in its infancy and is poised for additional development.
