Odontomas are benign odontogenic tumors (or) hamartomas composed of enamel, dentin and cementum and pulp tissue. Usually they are asymptomatic clinically, but often associated with tooth eruption disturbances. In exceptional cases the odontomas erupt into the mouth. Only 20 such cases of erupting odontomas have been reported in the English language literature. The purpose of this article is to report an additional case of such rare entity occurring in the mandibular molar region which was identified through radiographic examination. A short note on the review of erupting odontomas is documented.
