Attitude of nursing students towards nursing Profession in South Gujarat colleges with a view to develop Guideline for nursing Student

Abstract

Introduction

Nursing education is a challenge in developing country like India. This cross sectional study assessed the attitude of nursing professionals and their desire future practices. Nursing students are future health manpower because of that this following study is to assess the first year and fourth year under graduate nursing student's attitude towards nursing profession.

Methodology

The investigator used purposive sampling technique selecting the 150 samples. A 5point rating scale were prepared to assess the student attitude towards nursing profession reliability of rating scale was ascertained by using also the rating and guidelines was validated by the experts the pilot study was conducted on 20 samples and the study was founded to be feasible.

Result

Data presented shows frequency and percentage wise distribution of demographic data for the distribution of sample bye age group of 18 to 20 year, 100% regarding the gender 4% samples were male and 96% samples were female regarding religion 89.33%samples are Hindu, 6.66% samples are Muslim, 4%samples are Christian. Regarding marital status 1.33% samples are married, 98.66% samples are Unmarried. Regarding residence 50.66% samples are belong to the rural area, 49.33% samples are belongs to the urban area. The gender 5.33%samples were male and 94.67% samples were female regarding religion 85.33% samples are Hindu, 6.66%samples are Muslim, 6.66%samples are Christian, 1.33% samples are other. Regarding socio-economic condition 4% samples are up to 5000, 24% samples are having 5000-10000, 21.33% samples are having 10000–15000, 50.66%samples having above 15000. Regarding marital status 8%samples are married, 92% samples are Unmarried. Regarding residence 34.66% samples are belong to the rural area, 65.33% samples are belongs to the urban area.

Conclusion

The whole study shows that there was positive attitude between first year and fourth year B. Sc. Nursing students in the selected colleges of south Gujarat.
