Assess the Knowledge on Self-care Strategies of Antenatal mothers attending OPD in selected Hospitals of Wardha

Abstract

Introduction

When you are pregnant, it is important for you to have regular check-ups with a midwife or doctor. These check-ups are called antenatal care or antenatal visits. The objectives of the study were 1) To assess the knowledge on self care strategies on antenatal mothers attending OPD. 2) To determine the association between the knowledge and score with the selected demographic variables.

Methods

Descriptive research study on 150 subjects which include antenatal mothers of all trimester of selected hospital of Wardha district by Non probability convenience sampling. statistical method used to conduct analysis were student paired t test, student unpaired t test, chi-square test, one way ANOVA Guttmann Split Half and reliability analysis test. were assessed for self care strategies by using structured interview schedule. The findings were then analyzed statistically.

Results

In my study the minimum score was 7 and the maximum score was 23, the mean score was 15.12 ± 2.49 with a mean percentage score of 50.4±8.29.t and there is no association between variables likes age religion, type of family, education, occupation, family income, ANC registration, trimester, only there is association between previous knowledge about self care strategies and there source of information and 78.66% of mothers having good level of knowledge It was revealed that there is a positive correlation between the hemoglobin level and dietary habits of ante natal mothers.

Conclusion

Hence the results of the study can be a useful tool while handling antenatal mothers and can result in improved health.
