Abstract

The reduction of pain among post caesarean section mothers has an important role to play in enabling effectiveness of Benson's relaxation therapy intervention as an independent nursing intervention. The objective of the study is to assess the effectiveness of Benson's relaxation therapy on reduction of pain among post caesarean section mother. The research design adopted was quasi-experimental time series design. The conceptual framework for this study was based on General system theory modified Ludwig Von Bertalanffy's.

The study had been conducted in Shree Mehta Sarvajanic Hospital At Una, Girsomnath District. Non-probability purposive sampling technique had been adopted to select the desired samples. The sample size was 60. As an intervention Benson's relaxation therapy was administered for 1st to 3rd post operative day for 5 minute twice a daily in the morning and evening, and then gradually the time is increase 10–20 minutes. The collected data were analysed by using both descriptive and inferential statistical methods, ’ F’ value was used to assess the effectiveness of Benson's relaxation therapy on reduction of pain. The obtained experimental group ‘F’ value was 34.5*** which showed highly significant at 0.001 level compare to control group ‘F’ value was 14.31 Hence there finding of the study revealed that Benson's relaxation therapy helps in decreasing the level of pain among post caesarean section mothers with selected demographic variables.
