Abstract

An in vitro regeneration studies in pomegranate using shoot tip and nodal segment explants from selected mature pomegranate trees was attempted. The browning of cultures was controlled by regular subsulturing of explants onto media supplemented with same hormonal concentrations. The shoot proliferation was obtained on MS basal medium supplemented with BAP 1.0 mg l−1 + NAA 0.5 mg l−1. The elongated shoots were separated and subcultured for rooting individually on half-strength MS basal medium supplemented with 0.5 mg l−1 either NAA or IAA. The plantlets were transferred to vermicompost + soil mix (1:1) and were hardened in mist chamber with 50% survival.
