Summary

Field performance of Kinnow mandarin on seven rootstocks viz., Jatti Khatti (Citrus jambhiri), Karun Jamir (Citrus aurantium), Shekhawasha (Citrus tachibana), Jambhiri (Citrus jambhiri), Pectinifera (Citrus depressa), Estes rough lemon (Citrus jambhiri) and Cleopatra (Citrus reshni) was conducted. Cent per cent tree survival was recorded in plants on Jatti Khatti and Jambhiri rootstock combinations. No mortality was recorded upto the 10th year of field age in any of the rootstocks and thereafter the declining symptoms started on few rootstocks. Maximum tree volume and cumulative fruit yield of seven seasons (3458 fruits/643 kg/tree) was recorded in plants on Jati Khatti rootstock. Trees on Cleopatra and Shekhwasha rootstocks responded poorly. No significant difference in fruit quality characters was observed. Use of Jatti Khatti rootstock for Kinnow mandarin is recommended on the basis of tree health, yield and quality.
