Abstract

This paper reviewed five policies and laws, which include the Protection and Conservation of Fish Act, 1950; The Marine Fisheries Ordinance, 1983; The Protection and Conservation of Fish Rules, 1985; National Fisheries Policy, 1998; and Coastal Zone Policy, 2005. Some sections of the policies and laws are seen to be damaging the fishing resources. It is high time for the Department of Fisheries (DoF), People's Republic of Bangladesh to review these fishery policies and laws as per stakeholders ’recommendations.
