Abstract This paper reviewed five policies and laws, which include the Protection and Conservation of Fish Act, 1950; The Marine Fisheries Ordinance, 1983; The Protection and Conservation of Fish Rules, 1985; National Fisheries Policy, 1998; and Coastal Zone Policy, 2005. Some sections of the policies and laws are seen to be damaging the fishing resources.
