Abstract The study on ‘’effectiveness of self instructional module on knowledge regarding post dialysis home care among care givers of chronic renal failure patients undergoing haemodialysis in karthik hospital at sivagangai. The Objectives of this study to assess the pre test level of knowledge regarding post dialysis home care among care givers of chronic renal failure patients undergoing haemodialysis, to evaluate the effectiveness of self instructional module on knowledge regarding post dialysis home care among care givers of chronic renal failure patients undergoing haemodialysis and to find out the association between the pre test level of knowledge regarding post dialysis home care among caregivers of chronic renal failure patients undergoing haemodialysis with their selected demographic variables. The study framework was based on shuffle Beam ‘s CIPP Programme evaluation model (1960), to find the effectiveness of self instructional module in improving knowledge regarding post dialysis home care. Evaluatory approach was adopted for this study. Pre experimental one group pre test post test design was adopted for this study. The study was conducted in karthik hospital, Arranmannai vassal at sivagangai. The sample size was 50 care givers. The Non probability purposive sampling technique was used. Data were collected from the care givers to assess the level of knowledge by using semi structured questionnaire before self instructional module. Post test was conducted 1 week after administration of self instructional module, the level of knowledge was assessed. The collected data were tabulated and analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that, there was a significant difference in pre test and post test level of knowledge on post dialysis home care of haemodialysis patients, tabulated t-value (25.36) was greater than table value at 0.05, level of significance. Its shows the self instructional module was effective in improving the knowledge. This study concludes that self instructional module was effective in improving the knowledge of care givers regarding post dialysis home care of chronic renal failure patients undergoing haemodialysis.
