Awareness of Primary School Teachers towards the Implementation of Mid Day Meal Programme An Evaluative Study

India has 22 percent of the world population but 46 percent of the world illiterates and to a high proportion of the worlds out of school children and youth is in home. 47 percent of India's children below the age of 3 years are malnourished (underweight). The World Bank puts the number at 60 million. Many children reach school with an empty stomach in the morning, since a good early morning breakfast is not part of household routine.1 This study was undertaken to assess the Awareness of Primary School Teachers towards the implementation of Mid Day Meal Programme in selected Schools of Dehradun, Uttrakhand. Total 50 subjects were selected by purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by using Self Structured Knowledge Questionnaire after taking a consent from subjects and the final data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The study concluded that 22% of the subjects below average, 64% scored average and rest 24% scored above average.
