In Sacco And In Vitro Dry Matter Disapperance of Straw of Paddy Varieties Grown in Andhra Pradesh Reddy N. Raja Sekhar, Sivaiah K. Department of Animal Nutrition, College of Veterinary Science, Tirupati-517 502, India Online published on 29 December, 2011. Abstract Samples of straw of fifteen varieties of paddy (semi dwarf and meduim) were evaluated for their chemical composition, in sacco and in vitro DM degradability. The average in sacco DM degradability (%) for semi-dwarf and medium varieties was 30.80, 30.98; 41.28, 40.96; 50.59,51.13; 57.27, 57.09 and 60.11, 60.27 after 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72 h. incubation, respectively. The straw varieties significantly (P<0.01) affected the degradable fraction of DM and their degradation constants. Mean IVDMD of semi-dwarf and medium varieties was 28.03 and 29.26%, respectively. Negative correlations were observed for semi-dwarf varieties between IVDMD and ash (r=0.7479) or AIA (r=0.6825) and for medium varieties between % EDDM and ash (r=0.6455) or AIA (r=0.6234). It was concluded that ash and AIA could be used to predict the quality of straw of different cultivars of paddy. Top Keywords Paddy straw, Cultivars, Evaluation. Top |
