Abstract Present study was carried out to evaluate the performance of four mint (Mentha arvensis) varieties, namely CIM Saryu, Saksham, CIM Kranti and Kosi under two farming systems viz., poplar-based agroforestry system and open farming system. Growth parameters (plant height and plant spread) of mint varieties were recorded higher under open farming system as compared to poplar-based agroforestry system. The maximum total fresh herbage yield of mint (224.00 and 109.25 q ha−1) was recorded in variety Kosi under open and polar-based agroforestry, respectively. Maximum oil content was recorded in variety CIM Kranti at 1st (1.21%) and 2nd harvest (1.27%) under open farming system. The total average oil yield recorded were 186.19 and 72.72 L ha−1 under open and poplar-based agroforestry system, respectively. Top Keywords Fresh herbage yield, Mentha arvensis, oil content, oil yield and Poplar deltoides. Top |
