Abstract This article aims to assess the extent of marital adjustments adopted by married policewomen and to find out the major factors influencing them. Method: Primary data has been collected from 244 married women working in the police department in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu state. The sample women were selected based on stratified proportionate simple random sampling techniques. Data is analysed with frequency tables, cross-tabulations (means, standard deviations, and One-way ANOVA / t-test), and step-wise regression analysis. Results: Number of hours worked per day, number of days engaged in night duty per month, ordained to be engaged in special police duty by higher officials, higher academic qualification of husbands, joint family system, and the way they are born and brought up in urban areas turned out to be the major factors in influencing marital adjustment among policewomen.
