Efficacy of insecticides on Bean aphid, Aphis cracivora Koch in Green gram

Abstract

Field trials were conducted on effect of commercially available insecticides such as Acephate 75 SP (2 g/lit. of water), Emmamection benzoate 0.5 SG (0.5 g/lit.), Novaluron 10 SL (1.0 ml/lit.), Acetamaprid 20 SP (0.4 g/lit.), Dichlorovas 76 EC + Quinalphos 25 EC (0.5 ml + 1 ml/lit.), Dichlorovos 76 EC (0.75 ml/lit.), Dichlorovos 76 EC (1.50 ml/lit.), and Methyl parathion dust 2% (25 kg/ha) against aphid, Aphis cracivora in Green gram. The descending order of most effective insecticide was: Acetamaprid > Novaluron. During 2015, the maximum population reduction over control was found after 7 days of application at 15 days of interval viz., 71.4 and 67.6% due to Acetamaprid, Novaluron, respectively. A similar trend was found in 2016 and 2017. Thus, Acetamaprid was found most effective against the Bean aphid.
