Abstract Plumbago zeylanica L. is a medicinal plant commonly known as Chitrak, belonging to family Plumbaginaceae and has been acknowledged in different traditional system of medicines for the treatment of various diseases of human beings in the forms of paste and powder. The main phyto-constituents of this plant are naphthoquinones and steroidal compounds. These parts of this plant are traditionally claimed to be used for the treatment of ailments. Thus, the present paper is intended to review the database of it and scientifically documented antimicrobial properties along with traditional and folk medicine uses.
